When you book a self-guided trip with us, you’re not just booking a place to stay or a trail to follow. You’re choosing a way of travelling: one that is light, mindful, and rich with support behind the scenes. But what does that really mean? What’s included in your travel experience—and how do we make sure you have everything you need to enjoy the journey, from first step to final stop?
We know how important clarity is when planning a holiday. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to what’s always (or almost always!) included in our trips—so you can focus on the excitement of what lies ahead, knowing the rest is in good hands.
Let’s walk through it together.
Our trips always include private accommodation in rooms with private bathrooms, unless otherwise specified (for example, on hut-to-hut trips in the Dolomites where shared facilities are part of the mountain experience). We select each hotel, B&B, and agriturismo with great care: we want you to feel welcomed, rested, and immersed in the spirit of the place.
We love small, family-run accommodations full of character and local charm. In more remote areas, we’ll choose the best available option—and you might find yourself in a little guesthouse that sees just a handful of guests each year, where hospitality comes from the heart.
Breakfast is always included, and dinners are offered when local restaurants are not within walking distance—otherwise, we leave you the freedom to explore and dine wherever your curiosity (or appetite) leads.
Travel light, walk far. That’s our motto. On all of our walking and cycling trips, luggage transfer is included so you don’t have to carry anything more than your daypack. Each morning, leave your bag at the hotel reception by 9:00—by the time you arrive at your next accommodation, it’ll be there waiting for you (by 17:00 at the latest).
The standard includes one bag per person, typically up to 20kg. If you have additional luggage, we’re happy to arrange extra transfers for a small fee. And if for any reason the luggage transfer isn’t available for a specific day or stage (which can happen in rare cases like mountain huts), you’ll find this clearly explained on the trip page and documentation.
Our trips are self-guided, but never leave you feeling lost. We’ve developed a detailed APP—customized for your specific trip and usable offline, even in the most remote areas. It’s your pocket companion, with GPS tracking, turn-by-turn route notes, and daily stage information.
We no longer print physical documents, as part of our commitment to sustainability, but all the documentation you need will be shared with you digitally. You’ll also receive a pre-departure package including practical travel info, gear suggestions, and details about the area you're exploring.
And if you're new to self-guided travel? We’re happy to organize an optional briefing video call before your departure to answer all your questions and make sure you’re ready.
Whether you’re lost in translation or simply unsure which path to follow, we’re always just a phone call away. Our trips include 24/7 support via our emergency number, as well as full assistance during the planning phase.
Before you go, we help you choose the itinerary that suits your interests and fitness level. During the trip, we’re here if you need help with a transfer, a change in plans, or just want to check in. You’ll also be covered by basic medical and luggage insurance, included in every package for peace of mind.
Each of our itineraries is the result of first-hand exploration and research. We walk and ride every route ourselves before offering it to you—checking not only the quality of the trail, but the services available along the way. We’re always refining and updating our trips, based on traveler feedback and changing conditions on the ground.
Our team brings over 20 years of experience designing self-guided walking and cycling holidays across Europe. We know how to match the right trip to the right traveler, and we put that knowledge into every detail—from route planning and accommodation selection to logistics and documentation.
Wherever possible, we encourage reaching the starting point of your trip by public transportation. It’s part of our broader commitment to slow, responsible travel. Taking the train or a local bus not only reduces your carbon footprint, it helps you connect more deeply with the place you’re visiting—sharing the rhythm of daily life with locals, rather than speeding past it.
We also partner with environmental projects such as Rete Clima to calculate and offset the carbon footprint of our trips, ensuring that your walk leaves only light footprints—on the trail and on the planet.
In Summary – What’s Typically Included
Every itinerary may vary slightly, and we’ll always clearly tell you what’s included (and what’s not) on the specific trip page. Transparency is key—for us and for you.
