Are you ready to walk the Via Francigena Siena Viterbo route, right in the middle of postcard-like scenery? In the first part of this journey you will follow the legendary strade bianche (“white roads”, dirt roads) of Siena for kilometres and kilometres, crossing the Val d’Arbia and the Val d’Orcia, icons of the Tuscan landscape. You will visit wonderful villages such as Bagno Vignoni, with its large thermal pool in the centre of the square, and Radicofani, whose fortress towers over southern Tuscany. Once you enter Lazio, you will be amazed by the beauty of Lake Bolsena and charmed by the ancient paving stones of the Via Cassia, still intact after 2000 years, before reaching the evocative old town of Viterbo.
Along the way, you will walk through the vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino, one of Italy’s most celebrated wines, and the production zones of cacio di Pienza, before entering one of the most renowned areas for extra-virgin olive oil, between Bolsena and Montefiascone.
